Fit Out Phase

Once the structural phase of a basement conversion is over, Simply Basement’s fit-out team can come on to begin the second part of the process. This includes transforming the basement “shell” created by the structural team into a room.

Of course, what is done in this phase will depend on the exact specifications of your cellar conversion, but this page will serve as a rough guide of what you can expect at this point in your build.

The flooring will be finished to your design, including any underfloor heating if this is required and, at this point, the first fix gas, electrics and plumbing will be installed as necessary. Walls will be dry lined and finished with plaster and any partitioning walls will be installed if, for instance, your basement will house multiple rooms.

Now you’ll see your dream basement emerging as any bespoke carpentry and joinery is carried out. After this any specialist rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms, swimming pools or cinema rooms can be installed. Then decoration can begin and you’ll have your basement conversion exactly as you imagined it.

At the end of the fit out phase, one of our Simply Basement representatives will meet with you to give you your completion pack. This includes details of all guarantees, your gas and electrical safety certificates and building control sign-off. Then you’re free to enjoy the extra space your basement conversion has opened up to you.
