It’s been a few weeks since we posted about one of our most ambitious basement conversions. Simply Basement is currently installing a basement at a historic muse property in Pembridge Mews in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London.
Located down a picturesque cobbled street, making access challenging, the next phase of the build is currently underway. Over the last few weeks, the Simply Basement team have dug down approximately 1.6 meters (5.2ft), removing around 190m³ (67 tonnes) of soil. There is still another 1.6m to go.
To underpin the basement 30m³ (10 tonnes) of concrete have been poured down chutes into wheelbarrows, where the concrete is carried to its relevant section. Once the underpinning is complete, all the remaining soil will be removed leaving a completely new and fully concreted basement ready for waterproofing and fitting out.
A basement conversion is a great way to gain space in your home, especially when extending out or up has already been carried out or is not an option.
